The CEE Private Equity Congress

Event photographs

The 3rd annual unquote” Central and Eastern European Private Equity Congress took place on 21 May 2009 at the Hallam Conference Centre, London. It was sponsored by Greenpark Capital and SJ Berwin and attracted over 100 delegates from the UK, CEE and beyond, this despite the current economic climate. Thanks to all those who took part and made the day a great success!

Make sure you make a note in your diary to attend next year’s event in May 2010 where we will meet once again to discuss:

  • Performance – where have returns gone since the onset of the credit crunch, and where are they headed?
  • LP concerns – LPs are struggling with liquidity issues, and re-assessing their GP relationships. What does this mean for CEE?
  • GP concerns – How to handle problematic LPs
  • Deal origination – It’s no longer just about finding suitable businesses, but also owners willing to do business with you.
  • Fundraising – Raising commitments in 2009 was extremely challenging – though not impossible, as a handful of funds proved. What must funds hitting the fundraising trail this year do differently?
  • Public markets – From exit route to deal origination – even to management company listing –

Here's what some of you had to say about the event:

I thought the conference was very informative and boasted a strong cross-section of the local GP community as well interesting discussions among LPs focused on the region.

Leon Hadass, Principal, Pantheon Ventures Ltd.

I did enjoy the event and felt that the quality of the speakers was high and their sessions very topical. Alan Mackay gave a very balanced view of investment prospects in CEE and as someone trying to decide whether or not to extend our reach into this area, it proved insightful.

Chris Jackson, Managing Director, Leveraged Finance, CIT Bank Limited

I thought the conference was well organized and interesting.

Peter M. Burns, Managing Director, Commonfund UK Limited

I did enjoy the event and made a couple of useful contacts during the day as well.

Daniel Walker, Private Equity Fund Manager, Aviva Investors

The unquote" Private Equity Congress CEE is particularly successful due to the organisers’ in-depth understand of the subject matter. It therefore has high quality presenters, speaking on well defined topics which are highly relevant to today’s market.

Chris Buckle, Managing Director, Mezzanine Management GmbH

Great conference, very insightful presentations and panels. Thanks!

Jacob Krawczyk

Productive and interesting day.

Anne Hutton, Principal Banker, EBRD

Very well organised and informative conference.
